Student Scientific Club of Medical Communication and Education
The activities of the Student Scientific Circle of Medical Communication and Education promote the art of communication with patients and facilitate access for students of the Medical University of Warsaw to develop and educate themselves in this field. Members of the Student Scientific Circle can both expand their theoretical knowledge of medical communication and deepen their awareness in the area of selected social problems, such as discrimination and exclusion and stigmatisation.
A notable advantage of the Student Scientific Circle is the opportunity to test their knowledge and communication skills with a simulated patient. This form of learning and testing is common at medical schools in the UK, among others, where the OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) is a mandatory and frequent component of classes and examinations for trainee medics.
Another valuable element of the Student Scientific Circle of Medical Communication and Education is the interdisciplinary meetings, during which, collaborating with other Student Scientific Circles, students have opportunities to broaden their perspectives and share their knowledge.
Under the watchful and experienced eye of the Student Scientific Circle supervisor Antonina Doroszewska, Ph.D., students also have the opportunity to engage in scientific work. Following their interests, those willing to do so pose research questions, collect data and write scientific articles, publishing them and speaking about their results at conferences.
The circle is created by students and for students, hence the topics of activities are diverse and tailored both to the needs and interests of students and to topics emerging in the public space on an ongoing basis.
Those interested are welcome to join.
